My first impressions:
- I was curious about what the scripting language is like, but the website has no content.
- I downloaded, installed and attempted to run it. I got a MSWINSCK.OCX not found error.
- I did some searching, and registered that file from the "Dependancies" directory.
- The documentation mentions there's a premade account so I can log "strait" in.
- I managed to get it running, and found myself in a fully black, empty world.
- The documentation doesn't have mention of "how to create a map", or "sample worlds to connect to"

As such, I can't say anything really definite about it.

Player Realms has since been updated. There was a forum with instructions on how to create maps and such, but Gameboy, being clever moved servers without backing anything up, so the site's forum has gone. I can write you instructions how to make an admin account and make the maps, etc, if you still want it.

How about just an existing server?

You run the servers yourself....

For now, I'd just like to look at this from a player's POV. I'd just need to connect to somebody else's server to do that.

What version of Player Realms do you have btw? I may make a game up soon, not now though as I have exams starting on wednesday.

Probably; I can't check right now because I'm booted into Linux ATM.

You need to install the Media Package.

http://www.player-realms.co.nr

The Media Package contains all the default graphics and sound. The help documentation is very basic I know, but you type in /mapdesigner, click the tile you wish to use, and click the main game screen, and that's how you lay them down.

I'm working on another project right now too, this one is a text-based online game.

It's nice to see that some things never change.
